Go Fund Me—Legacy of Letters Letterpress Extravaganza

In early April tried to set up the GoFundMe account to raise funds to enable both Shaqa Bovand and Chiara Bergese  a student in the Communication Design department at the Politecnico di Milano, Italy, to join Legacy of Letters 2023. The vetting process at GoFundMe was so slow and repetitive that I decided to crowdfund both women via email and my website. The effort quickly raised enough money ($3500) for one woman and Chiara graciously allowed Shaqa to go first. After that the crowdfunding effort sputtered. As of May 31, 2023—the extended deadline—$966 had been donated on Chiara’s behalf.*

GoFundMe completed their vetting process on June 2 and I was finally able to publish my funding request. As a result I have closed down my own crowdfunding effort and am now directing people to Legacy of Letters 2023 Letterpress Extravaganza at GoFundMe for additional support for Chiara.

The funds raised so far—with the aid of additional money from her family and friends—are only enough to allow Chiara to take part in the letterpress workshop at the Tipoteca. However, since Legacy of Letters 2023 does not begin on June 29 there is still time to raise more money for her to be a full member of the group.

*Since may 31 another $50 has been raised for Chiara making the total $1016 as of June 9, 2023.
