Crowdfunding Chiara Bergese for Legacy of Letters 2023—Update June 1, 2023

This will be the last Legacy of Letters tour and workshop for the foreseeable future! I would like to fill the last available place on the tour with an unfunded applicant for the Legacy of Letters 2023 scholarships. There were 18 applicants for the four sponsored scholarships, a dozen of whom had excellent portfolios. Among them was Chiara Bergese, a student in the Communication Design department at the Politecnico di Milano, Italy. She missed the cut-off in the cumulative judges’ voting, but her work received high marks from both Cyrus Highsmith and Jeremy Tankard. I am hoping that her participation in Legacy of Letters 2023 can be made possible via the same crowdfunding effort that has successfully added Shaqa Bovand to the tour.

The goal can be achieved if:

• 35 people donate $100 each
• 100 people donate $35 each
• 500 people donate $7 each.

The original deadline for this goal was May 10, 2023. As of midnight 30 May 2023 donations or pledges totaling $966 had been received. Although that is far short of the balance needed to reach the targeted goal, you can still support Chiara. After June 1, 2023 you can do so via GoFundMe.

Legacy of Letters 2023 will take place from June 29 to July 12, 2023. It will include stops in Milano, Torino, Alpignano, Casteggio, Parma, Modena, Venice, and Cornuda. We will visit five libraries/museums, four letterpress shops, one silkscreen shop, and the Tipoteca (where we will have a multi-day letterpress workshop).
