Images from Tipo Cibo Vino (Legacy of Letters 2019)—Part 1: Treviso, Venice, Rovereto, and Trento
The first iteration of Tipo Cibo Vino, the 2019 Legacy of Letters tour and workshop, was a smashing success. The ten participants and one companion had a marvelous time touring cultural and gastronomic sites in the Veneto, taking cooking and beverage lessons from Cristina Colle and Mauro Drago of Le Corderie restaurant, and then working collaboratively on a letterpress book at the Tipoteca under the guidance of Peter Kruty and Sayre Gaydos of Peter Kruty Editions. The experience was so rich and rewarding that everyone is eager to do it again. Plans are currently being made for another Tipo Cibo Vino in July 2020.
The participants of Tipo Cibo Vino were graphic designer Claire Lukacs of Hoboken; former typesetter and proofreader Lucia McCreery of Brooklyn, an alumna of the 2010 Legacy of Letters tour; graphic design educator Jane Pirone from Brooklyn; veterinarian Shaina Pruden and graphic designer Jason Stadnik from Arizona, printmaker James Stroud and graphic design educator Janine Wong from Massachusetts; graphic designer Lucille Tenazas from Beacon, New York; letterpress printer Laura Thoms from Texas; and graphic designer Emmy Yamaguchi from the Los Angeles area. Mental health counselor Sara Waters, Jane’s companion, rounded out the group.
Tipo Cibo Vino was organized by me with the assistance of graphic designer Patricia Childers and Sandro Berra, the director of the Tipoteca.
Here is a day-by-day visual account of the first three days of Tipo Cibo Vino. (All photographs, unless otherwise indicated, are by me and are copyright Legacy of Letters.)
